Urban Rec Farm
A Recreational Center and Allotment Garden’s in Queens, NY

GSD SPRING 2010 | Critic: Florian Idenburg

To help reduce the environmental impact of the rec center on the site, a series of green spaces are introduced that belong to the center and function as different types of fields. A large area is devoted to allotment gardens reserved for inhabitants of the Willet’s Point neighborhood in New York. The building’s configuration is meant to define a zone of activity as well as allowing a porous condition permitting circulation.
