Wall Building + Excavation

UTA Fall 2004 | Critic: Chris Hill

This project entailed designing a building within a specific envelope that would contain viewing platforms from which to observe an archeological site below. The envelope was required to fit within a specified zone resulting in a tall and slender building. The plan of the archeological excavation serves as an organizational device for the sections and elevations. Within the wall one experiences the same effects present in the excavation. In some locations within the building one is completely enveloped by the wall and at other locations the facade becomes transparent and reflects the light intervention of the excavation.
